TEIKKO, a novel product stemming from the Company’s PREtec peptide platform, has gained approval as a seed treatment for managing root-lesion nematode (Pratylenchus brachyurus) in soybean. Extensive research conducted during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 soybean crop seasons demonstrated that TEIKKO exhibited comparable or superior efficacy compared to conventional agrochemical treatments. This innovative solution empowers farmers to protect their crops from plant parasitic nematodes without resorting to harmful agrochemicals. TEIKKO’s advantages over alternative biological products include a three-year shelf life, ease of storage without special requirements, low application rates for convenient industrial seed treatment, compatibility with traditional seed treatments like fungicides and insecticides, and consistent performance in diverse environmental conditions such as drought or humidity.
For the upcoming 2023/24 season, it is anticipated that the soybean harvested area in Brazil will span 45 million hectares. Recent research findings from Kynetec reveal that Brazilian growers allocated $215 million towards soybean nematode control during the 2022/23 season, indicating a remarkable annualized growth rate of 55% over the past six years. The TEIKKO product label is poised for expansion in the future, with plans to include additional crops and nematode species, thereby broadening its potential applications.
