On July 2, 2024, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Chengdu Newsun Crop Science Co., Ltd. held an online discussion about leveraging biotechnology and standardized management to restore agricultural ecosystems, address the global food crisis, and promote the transformation and upgrade of the global food system. Participants included key figures from the FAO’s Innovation Department and Chengdu Newsun, as well as renowned experts in agricultural technology. The meeting focused on tackling climate change, improving food production, and restoring agricultural ecosystems through advanced biotechnological solutions.

Chengdu Newsun presented successful cases and management plans that utilize Plant Growth Regulators, Biostimulants, and a combination of biological and chemical pesticides to enhance food production and quality. They highlighted their achievements in soil remediation, green pest control, and addressing abiotic stress. Their soil remediation technologies improve soil structure and fertility, while their green pest control strategies reduce reliance on chemical pesticides and enhance biodiversity. Additionally, their biotechnological products improve crop resistance to environmental stressors, leading to higher yields and better-quality agricultural products.

According to the FAO’s “State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2023” report, a significant portion of the global population is facing hunger, with many unable to afford a healthy diet. Chengdu Newsun, with over two decades of experience in green agricultural biotechnology, has been pivotal in addressing these challenges.
