Kapsera, a visionary in sustainable microencapsulation technology for agriculture and food, has secured €4.2 million in funding to take its innovative solutions to the next level. This transformative funding round brings in two new investors: Banque des Territoires, dedicated to supporting impactful regional projects, and The Yield Lab Europe, an investment fund championing ecological and sustainable innovation. Longtime supporters, including Demeter Investment Managers via the Agrinnovation fund, have also reaffirmed their trust in Kapsera’s mission, which they’ve supported since 2019.
With this investment, Kapsera is set to build its first industrial units at its Bordeaux site in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, a region already backing the company through its VitiREV program under the France 2030 initiative. These units are a cornerstone of Kapsera’s growth plan, with the first expected to be operational by mid-2025. The company is targeting an annual production capacity of over 200 tons by 2027 and plans to create 20 new jobs in the next two years—further embedding itself in the region’s economy and innovation ecosystem.
But Kapsera’s ambitions don’t stop there. This funding will also power expanded research and development to grow its portfolio of natural microcapsules. By addressing the increasing demand for sustainable biosolutions in agriculture and nutrition, Kapsera is poised to deliver groundbreaking products that are as environmentally conscious as they are effective. The company is also focused on continuously refining its proprietary technology to stay ahead in the race for sustainable innovation.
Antoine Drevelle, Kapsera’s CEO and co-founder, spoke with passion about this new chapter: “This funding is a game-changer for us. It allows us to move forward with industrialization and support our clients in their mission to deliver sustainable and high-performing solutions. We’re excited to welcome visionary partners who share our drive to transform agriculture and food systems for the better. Together with our loyal investors, regional supporters, and clients, we’re tackling some of the biggest challenges of our time.”
With its sights set on becoming a global leader in natural microencapsulation, Kapsera is on a mission to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and sustainability. This funding marks an important step toward building a future where agriculture and food systems can thrive without compromising the health of our planet.
François Wohrer, Head of Investment at Banque des Territoires, highlighted the broader impact of this investment: “We are pleased to invest in Kapsera. This investment, made through the France 2030 Territoires d’Innovation program managed by Banque des Territoires, will facilitate the construction of the first factory and help address the challenge of developing sustainable agriculture that is less reliant on chemical inputs while remaining productive.”
Cyrille Cabaret, Partner at Demeter Investment Managers, reflected on the journey so far: “Since our initial investment in 2019, we have been proud to support Kapsera’s R&D milestones, which have led to the development of a unique encapsulation technology. With this new funding round, we reaffirm our support for the industrialization phase, enabling the company to serve high-growth markets such as agriculture, human nutrition, and animal nutrition.”
Gentiane Gorlier, General Partner at The Yield Lab Europe, praised Kapsera’s innovative approach: “We are always on the lookout for innovative technologies that address real-world challenges. We were immediately impressed by the Kapsera team and their natural microencapsulation technology, which solves multiple bottlenecks in feed, food, and applications like biopesticides, biostimulants, and pheromones. We are proud to support Kapsera in this new phase of commercial and industrial development.”
These endorsements from Kapsera’s new and long-standing investors underline the company’s ability to address critical challenges in agriculture and nutrition through innovation and sustainability. With strong partnerships and a clear vision, Kapsera is well-positioned to redefine how natural biosolutions are developed and applied globally.
