Jord BioScience, a U.S.-based pioneer in microbial solutions for agriculture, has raised $7 million in its Series B funding round to accelerate the development and commercialization of its next-generation biological crop inputs. This investment underscores the growing confidence in microbial technologies as the future of sustainable farming.

Pioneering Microbial Solutions for Modern Agriculture

Founded on over 30 years of research from the University of Minnesota, Jord BioScience specializes in enhancing the performance of microbial products used in agriculture. Under the leadership of Dr. Linda Kinkel, Chief Science Officer, the company has amassed a microbial bank of over 6,500 isolates sourced from diverse global soils. These isolates are optimized to improve crop performance by enhancing plant-microbe interactions, a crucial step in addressing the long-term impacts of extensive pesticide and fertilizer use.

Jord BioScience collaborates with agribusinesses to fast-track biological product innovation. Its tailored microbial formulations are designed to extend product lifecycles, improve consistency, and broaden the adoption of biologicals in mainstream agriculture. Currently, the company is conducting extensive field trials across the U.S., Argentina, and Brazil, testing solutions for staple crops such as corn, soybeans, canola, wheat, and various specialty crops.

Investment Backing and Growth Plans

The Series B funding round was led by Silver Blue LLC, a Maryland-based agrifood technology investor, with additional backing from Discovery Capital Funding and Minnesota’s Small Business Credit Initiative Direct Investment. This capital infusion will support Jord BioScience in scaling its R&D, expanding market reach, and strengthening partnerships with industry leaders.

“This funding round marks a major milestone for Jord BioScience, validating our partnership approach and the transformative potential of our microbial solutions in modern agriculture.”
