Bayer and UK-based Ecospray have entered into an exclusive distribution agreement to market a biological liquid nematicide sourced from garlic. The innovative product, named Velsinum, is targeted at vegetable and potato crops and will be marketed across the European Union.
Nematodes pose a significant threat to global agriculture, causing damages worth over 75 billion euros annually. Virtually all crops are vulnerable to at least one nematode pest, making effective control solutions crucial for farmers. Velsinum provides an innovative approach to combating nematode root damage while offering complementary benefits for both plant and soil health.
A Promising Partnership
Peter McDonald, CEO of Ecospray, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with Bayer, stating that the collaboration is a strong endorsement of Ecospray’s research and development capabilities, which have been cultivated over many years.
McDonald also acknowledged the continued support from Ecospray’s existing European distributors, Certis Belchim BV and CBC (Europe) SRL, emphasizing their vital role in market development with the company’s legacy product, Nemguard.
