UPL Corporation Ltd. (UPL Corp), a global provider of holistic and sustainable agricultural solutions, and Provivi, a global leader in pheromone-based crop protection, have announced a new strategic collaboration to bring sustainable pest control solutions to Mexican farmers.
This partnership will lead to the commercialization of Provivi’s innovative second-generation FAW Eco-Dispenser designed to combat Fall Armyworm (FAW). Through this agreement, Provivi’s eco-friendly and highly effective pheromone-based technology will reach a wider audience, empowering Mexican corn growers to adopt sustainable pest management practices that enhance crop yields while preserving the environment.
Corey Huck, CEO of Provivi, shared: “We are excited to join forces with UPL Corp to introduce our second-generation product, the FAW Eco-Dispenser, to the Mexican market. Our pheromone-based solutions align seamlessly with UPL Corp’s Natural Plant Protection (NPP) portfolio, which emphasizes sustainable agriculture through enhanced crop resilience and optimized soil health. Together, we are supporting farmers with tools that protect their crops while preserving the environment.”
Since 2020, Provivi’s first-generation FAW Dispenser has gained significant traction, with more than 5,000 growers across 28 Mexican states adopting the solution. This new collaboration with UPL Corp represents a pivotal evolution in both companies’ missions to promote sustainable agriculture.
The FAW Eco-Dispenser is crafted from eco-friendly materials, ensuring long-lasting efficacy with minimal environmental impact. It targets Fall Armyworm by disrupting the moths’ mating process, reducing egg-laying and preventing the emergence of destructive caterpillars. This preventive approach significantly reduces crop damage, aligning with both companies’ shared commitment to long-term food security and environmental stewardship.
Himanshu Panwar, Managing Director of UPL Corp Mexico, commented: “At UPL Corp Mexico, we are committed to strengthening our leadership through sustainable solutions for the Mexican corn growers. This partnership will enhance our value proposition for the corn market by complementing our strong product portfolio with a differentiated offering.”
This collaboration between UPL Corp and Provivi marks a significant milestone in advancing sustainable crop protection solutions, helping farmers secure better yields while safeguarding the environment for future generations.
Seipasa, a Spanish company specializing in the development, formulation, and production of bioinsecticides, biofungicides, biostimulants, and nutritional treatments for agriculture, has obtained a new extension of approved uses for its bioinsecticide Pirecris in the Spanish market.
The new label, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, allows the product to be used on citrus fruits, nut trees (almond, hazelnut, walnut, pistachio, and chestnut), cherry, and plum trees, consolidating its presence in segments where phytosanitary options are increasingly limited.
This label extension comes just a few months after the approval of Pirecris on red fruits, stone and pome fruit trees, persimmon, and apricot, among others, reinforcing its positioning as an effective and versatile tool in integrated pest management.
With this new addition, Pirecris becomes a bioinsecticide with an even broader spectrum of action, offering growers a sustainable and high-performance alternative in pest control.
The evolution of the Pirecris registration responds to the growing need in the agricultural sector for biological solutions to help meet the challenges posed by the reduction of chemical active substances on the marketplace. The addition of new crops to the label is a step forward in Seipasa’s strategy to provide growers with innovative and sustainable tools to protect their crops.
About Pirecris
Pirecris is a bioinsecticide that provides a powerful knockdown effect to control insect populations quickly and safely. It has an exclusive and patented formulation based on the perfect balance of PI and PII molecules that make up the active ingredient, allowing it to deliver maximum insecticidal efficacy with a lower dose of active ingredient.
The micromolecules that make up the formulation condense to form a stable and balanced network throughout the solution, providing perfect coverage on the leaf and insect.
Pirecris has a strong insecticidal effect that works by blocking the insect’s respiratory system, causing its death. The product acts on the eggs and larvae, resulting in a very significant reduction in the number of new generations.
Pirecris does not generate resistance, does not leave chemical residues on the fruit, and its short safety period allows its application immediately prior to harvest.
